Mother’s Blessings

Ceremonies across the Northern Rivers & Gold Coast

Becoming a mother is one of the biggest transformations of a woman’s life. Your body changes, and so does your brain and your sense of who you are. This transition has its own name: matrescence.

A time to be celebrated for who you are and who you are becoming.

Mothers Blessing Flower Crown

A Mother’s Blessing is a chance to pause and step into sacred space, honouring your passage into motherhood, or into its next chapter. A time to be celebrated for who you are and who you are becoming.

Gathered with your closest women, we breathe life into this transition through stories, connection, intentional gifts for you and your new babe, in a space of ritual, support and celebration.

So much of the focus falls on the baby. This is a moment to celebrate you, whether this is your first child or your fourth.

Each pregnancy births a new version of you.

A Mother’s Blessing is inspired by the Navajo Blessingway. I am not Navajo, and this is not a recreation of that ceremony. It’s a contemporary ritual, co-created with you and drawn from traditions of gathering women from around the world, shaped to your group’s needs, intentions and cultural preferences.

I’ve offered Mother’s Blessings for nine years. Again and again, I’ve seen them draw the women gathered closer to one another, and bring the mother closer to her growing baby and changing body.

Frequently Asked Questions

Any woman becoming a mother, whether it’s her first child or her third or fourth. Each pregnancy is not only the birthing of new life, but the birthing of a new version of you. A Mother’s Blessing is a chance to honour who you are now, celebrate who you are becoming, and mark your next chapter of motherhood.

Most are held in the third trimester, between about 30 and 37 weeks. It’s close enough to birth to feel meaningful, with room to spare if baby comes early.

I recommend enquiring at least 6 weeks ahead, especially for weekend dates.

If a Mother’s Blessing is for you, this is your time to receive.

You might create your guest list and hand the organising over to a close friend, sister or family member. Or you might prefer to help choose the activities and shape the ceremony yourself. The choice is yours.

We start by choosing a date, a location (or a few options) and the activities. Final numbers can be confirmed closer to the time. Whoever is organising with me sends the invitations and confirms numbers as the date draws near.

On the enquiry form, just let me know who I should liaise with. This can always change once we’ve connected.

I bring the altar, ritual materials and everything needed for the ceremony and craft activities. You’ll just need a space where everyone can sit comfortably in a circle, with room for an altar in the centre.

Extra cushions or floor seating add comfort, though I can provide the basics, including a supportive seat for the mother.

I recommend a grazing table or simple snacks to keep the gathering warm and unhurried. Asking each guest to bring a plate of finger food to share means the mother can fully receive.

I may also ask each guest to bring a small item for the altar. You’ll have plenty of notice if this is part of your ceremony.

Indoors or outdoors: at home, on a verandah, beneath a tree, or wherever feels right for your group. Ideally, everyone can sit comfortably together in a circle.

If you choose an outdoor location, have a backup plan in case of weather.

If you’d like to book a venue in the Northern Rivers, reach out and I can point you towards some options.

Yes. I offer Mother’s Blessings throughout the Northern Rivers and Gold Coast.

Travel within 40 km of Lennox Head (80 km return) is included. Beyond that, travel is $1 per additional km of return travel. For example, a location 60 km away (120 km return) adds $40.

For locations further afield, get in touch and I’ll confirm the fee.

Once you’ve completed the enquiry form, I’ll be in touch to learn more about you, your group and what you’re envisioning.

We’ll confirm your date, location, numbers and any additional activities, then finalise your booking.

A 50% deposit secures your date. It covers the initial preparation and materials for your ceremony. The remaining 50% is due 7 days before your ceremony.

Because each Mother’s Blessing is personally prepared and materials are bought specifically for your ceremony, your deposit is non-refundable.

Rescheduling: with at least 14 days’ notice, I’ll move your ceremony to a new date, subject to availability, and your deposit carries across. This can be done once.

Cancelling more than 7 days before your ceremony: your deposit is kept and nothing further is owed.

Cancelling within 7 days of your ceremony: your balance has been paid by then, and your ceremony has been prepared. Refunds aren’t guaranteed, but I’ll review each situation individually and may refund up to 50% of your balance.

If I need to cancel due to unforeseen circumstances, you’ll receive a full refund of all payments made. If possible, and with your agreement, an alternative facilitator may take my place.

Babies keep their own timetable. If your baby arrives before your ceremony, we’ll move it to a new date with no penalty, and your deposit carries across.

Many women choose to hold it as a postnatal blessing in the early weeks, welcoming the baby into the circle and honouring the mother in her fourth trimester.

If circumstances change in a way none of us would wish for, please get in touch, and we’ll work it out together with care.
